Transforming Agriculture: Scott Michell Partners with Atlas Carbon for Soil Carbon Project

Recognising that commencing a soil carbon project was not a decision to be made lightly or without first undertaking in-depth, on-farm due diligence, Scott chose to work with Atlas Carbon due to the company's expertise and knowledge in the space. After receiving a free Cost-Benefit Report from Atlas Carbon that revealed Castletop had the potential to both generate carbon credits and boost the productivity of its core grazing business via a soil carbon project, he decided to move forward with an Atlas Carbon Farm Visit.

Evaluating Potential: In-Depth Farm Visit Fuels Soil Carbon Project Decision

For Scott Michell and Atlas Carbon, the Farm Visit was vital in assessing Castletop's soil carbon project potential. Atlas Carbon's Chief Grazing Officer Bart Davidson and Pasture and Grazing Consultant Rafe Ritchie spent a full day with Scott at Castletop, developing a mutual understanding of both the property's current operations and the practice changes required to maximise its soil carbon potential.

The results of comprehensive soil and pasture tests taken on the day, along with an assessment of the grazing management in place at Castletop and expert insights from Bart Davidson and Rafe Ritchie, were then compiled into a Soil Carbon Project Viability Assessment Report. This assessment provided Scott with all the information he needed to confidently decide whether commencing a soil carbon project was the right move for Castletop.
